Imerys North America Ceramics corporate roots run deep in the rich mining territories of Georgia, Western Kentucky, Tennessee and Mississippi. Back in 1890, the small Mandle Clay Company, which a quarter century later became K-T Clay, unearthed the original Old Mine #4 Ball Clay, a raw material which has become the standard by which all Ball Clays are measured to this day.
The addition of ceramic Kaolin for functional and nonfunctional filler applications has substantially diversified our product line. 1995 saw the addition of South Carolina Kaolins, with the acquisition of the Langley Plant from JM Huber. In 1994, Kentucky-Tennessee Clay Company dedicated its state of the art slurry plant in Monterrey, México . In 2007, The Feldspar Corporation joined North America Cermics introducing highly unique Fledspar and Kaolins. With these acquisitions and expansions, we became the first raw material supplier in North America to have a complete product line for ceramics.
Our broad product line has enabled us to serve a wide variety of markets, including Sanitaryware, Filler, Fiberglass, Hobby, Ceramic Tile, Refractories, Dinnerware, Electrical Porcelain, and various others.
